Maybe a 10- speed is NOT that much better than an 8- speed, or even a 6- speed. There's lag time while shifts occur, and more gears= more parts to break. If you keep adding more and more gears, eventually you'll end up overcomplicated, overshifting, overweight, and unable to keep up with the cars that have fewer gears, but are IN gear and going.

I'm not saying, "The 10- speed is bad." I AM suggesting that more is not necessarily always better, unless it's important for bragging about at cars and coffee (but, rumor has it, Mustangs will soon be outlawed from attending those events... 'nuff said).

Maybe... maybe we should hope for a CVT in a Camaro... think about it: an INFINITE number of gears!
