This is a real problem. Some news stories have shown people's security camera videos of cars being opened by people using the device that will pick up the signal from your remote from inside your house. I use this Faraday bag. Got it on sale for $29.95.

I had a less expensive one that would shield the key fob well enough to keep me from opening the door but when I was sitting in the car, I could start the engine with the pouch in my pocket since the car's receiver is under the drink holder. With the one above, the car won't start even with the key fob and bag sitting in the drink holder. I lock the car with the button on the door and have the key fob back in the bag before I leave the car.
