The Chinese can't get enough of Buick. It's a huge profit maker in that region. Enclave paved the way for a new Buick in 2007, and with the addition of the 2010 LaCrosse, 2012 Regal, and whenever we get the Astra, Buick will once more be relevant in the North American market. LaCrosse is already selling out across the country, in fact, current estimates state that a LaCrosse spends an average of just 48 hours on a dealer lot before it's sold, along with the SRX, Equinox, Terrain, and Camaro. GM is considering increasing production at Fairfax, CAMI, and Oshawa to keep up with demand. They originally estimated that 3600 LaCrosses would be enough at launch, dealers are now requesting over 9600 units.
GMC is GM's most profitable division. Trucks and SUVs are well-known for being huge cash cows. In addition, GMC has an extremely loyal and developed customer base, many of which, contrary to popular belief, would not go to another GM brand if GMC was axed. In addition, GMC tends to attract a rather affluent customer base, as evidenced by the fact that the average incomes of Yukon Denali/Yukon XL Denali owners are actually higher than those of Escalade/Escalade ESV owners.
