Well the Cruze hatchback isn't being sold or described as a 'hot hatch'. The Cruze RS is an appearance package, as it is on the Camaro. Fun to drive? Yeah, it's got a turbo so it'll have a nice low end punch. Sporty? No way.
Since when is it too late to get into the hot hatch market? Hyundai is about to get into hot hatches. It's not too late to get into this market. Ford just brought hot hatches to the States and they are selling nicely. Plus GM has great hot hatches in Europe so they could easily make one here stateside.
