At this point, we need to look at our players. We got out physical'd this last game. Why? Our offensive line is still terrible, as it has been for the last 2 years. We've had Wilson able to bail the line out because of the magic he brings. His playing injured means he's not going to be able to do that and had to play from a pocket that was collapsing almost immediately. Even our run blocking was horrible with many tackles 2-4 yards behind the line.
This is on our players. Part of it is that one of our top linemen, Ifedi, is out. He's been graded by Brock Huard as the best or second best lineman on the team before he was hurt. He's a rookie....what does that say about the rest of our line if he's our "best". It means it's TERRIBLE right now. It took them half the season to gel enough to give Russell time in the pocket, and the two best players from that line are now gone.
We spend the least on our line...the lowest salary in all the league. It shows. Cable does a great job coaching them up...however that takes time. We need some retention on our line, and that hasn't been happening. So each year, we practically start from scratch.
That is the reason we have been doing so poorly in the early parts of the season. I just hope Wilson survives behind this line...
It also didn't help that Baldwin got injured (and wasn't a factor once he played again), Lockett was out for a substantial time in the locker room, and Kearse is just a non-factor because he's never been that great a receiver because he drops the ball as many times as he makes a great catch.
Lastly, the fumble by Michael was typical. And, it was caused by him not switching the ball in his hand...carrying it in the upfield hand, where it was easy to strip by the defender. This has been a problem with him since his first stint with the team...something that should be natural for any runner.

All very good points, hopefully they can get it together.
