Does she want a true truck-based SUV, or does she just want a bigger car?

SUV-wise, there's a reason GM owns the full size SUV market.

If she'll do a CUV, you have a ton more options, from subcompact (Trax/Encore) to compact (Envision) to midsize (Acadia/XT5) to full size (Traverse/Enclave). I'd hold off on the full size CUVs until the 2nd gens roll out next year though. Same with Equinox/Terrain, both are being redesigned.
