I have been playing Grand Prix Legends since 1998. It's not iRacing, but somehow the GPL community has kept the sim alive for almost 20 years.
Folks have been devoting their time for free to upgrade graphics, sounds, and utilities for it. When it debuted it had as good physics as car manufacturers had in their software. Still pretty good physics wise.
The AI is pretty damn good. Each historical driver (19 are modeled) has individual traits which give their AI representations distinct driving 'personalities'.
I love simulations and I'd say GPL is the most 'simulation' of them all that I have seen. It's hard. many people got turned off by it. But when I can put in 20 laps at Monza without an off or spinning or crashing, I actually feel I accomplished something.
I usually drive the car seen in my sig pic when I race
