I'll just go with your guesses.
If you recall the previous "sneaks" of the CTS, and the Volt where they had the car covered and lifted it up to show you a headlight................look at what's covered in the commercial.
The Spark/Matiz was already shown at the auto show. Nothing new there.
Everything else was kind of like the magician. You were watching the pretty girl, Fen.
They showed you just enough to wet your appetite and make you want more. Hopefully it has the same impact on those not afflicted with your condition.
