The RedRiver Rivalry comes to be a Game where its 50/50 for either team on who is going to Win the Game......imo its all records out the door its who shows up.
I would probably say after watching the first game OU's Deffense would have came out in the 2nd half last week and performed better than they did in the 1st.
As for the offense I dont know what to say this kind of bounces back to Texas 2007 season when we had no Offensive line. A lot can happen in 4 weeks for sure with a Team but normally an Offensive lines needs about 7/9 games to fully Gell.
Doctors can say what they want to us meaning the public about Sam Bradfords injury.....if he comes back in time he may be a lot better however I spoke with a doctor at the gym who has practiced medicine for 36 years and happens to work with a lot of the Dallas Cowboys and Tcu football team and even he said. " Bradford could probably return in a few weeks after good therapy and taking care of himself however there is no chance of being 100% maybe 75% possibly 80% but not 100% thats fully recovered " He also said 80% is pretty to get to however the last 20% is the hardest and longest percentage to overcome. He also mentioned when coming back at 80% you dont want to take many hits beccause basically you are at the stage of being an injury that is Scabbed over and another Hit could possibly remove the scab and take you back to day 1.
Gresham can be replaced When you have the type of players that Texas and OU's has you always have good backups ready to step in.
Ou's offense will get better no doubt however you dont fix those kind of offensive line problems in a few weeks or even a month. Thats Youth thats a HS kid playing a Mans game at a totally different speed than he is used to.
I honestly will sit here and say if OU is smart they will keep landry in the game and make sure Bradford returns when he is "100%" landry played his first game give the kid a few weeks and as a season goes on he WILL get better he is VERY talented No doubt. IF he had UT's offensive line like Garrett Gilbert had this last week he would have probably done just as good.
Colt and Sam both came into this league with AWSOME lines in front of them. Colt then lost that line in year #2 and got the $hit hammered out of him for 75% of the season what a lot of people dont remember Colt suffered a simular injury bot not as bad against Kstate in 2007 after that game he had a few weeks to rest and possbily get back for Texas aTm. When he returned a few weeks later He took 2 hits and was carted off on a stretcher after driving his shoulder back in the turf. You can bet your A$$ when Bradford comes back people will be going for him like a bounty hunter on a criminal. Unless a maricle happens I just dont see much improvment happening to OU's offensive line.
Not saying it cant happen...they may even play against a bad deffensive line and equal out however saying a rookie line is going to get good enough to protect a QB who just came off an injury is very doubtful.
As good as a coach as he is I think Stoops can prepare landry for any game in the next 6 to 8 weeks. Saying a return of Bradford would be a Win over Texas is pretty much saying Bradford is a 1 man team. You can give him 100% health yes it will help but there are other things needed to be fixed before anyone can say bring back Sam and we win.
OU Fans are where we were a few years ago....Shocked , Scared and not knowing whats going to happen.
Even though Today my team is healthy im taking one game at a time and knowing we are all 1 hit from left in the dark scratching your head.
Bob needs to quit worrying about getting Bradford back in time for Texas and he needs to address everything else on the team and get some protection for Landry. With proper protection landry a 2 time state champion in HS could possibly show his talent dont take the first game behind that line what he is.
Here's to a good game in october until then im not worrying about OU this week we have someone else.
