The old and the new

Greetings! Finally posting on the board, but I have been lurking for over a year. I'm a Camaro guy, I remember walking to school as a kid and seeing a bright yellow Z-28 every day that I thought was the coolest car ever. In college, I rode back and forth to school in a friend's 1984 Silver Camaro, and one of my friends had a 1987 Camaro with T-tops that was just amazing. Cruising with the tops open with Guns N Roses on the radio...

Anyway, I finally got my turn back in 2001 when I got my first Camaro, a 2000 base V6, black, with T-tops. It had a whopping 13K miles on it when I got it. Bought the V6 because it was my daily driver and I wanted the better gas mileage. Bought the automatic because the wife (now ex) couldn't drive a manual. Never looked back, I joyfully drove that car every day for 15 years. That car got rear-ended twice (minor scuffs only!), and then surived a valet parking mishap and sliding sideways down a Kansas highway at 60mph in a torrential rainstorm just to end up in ankle deep mud. I drove that car home from my divorce hearing, and my kids grew up riding in the back seat. Both of my kids drove that car for their very first driving lesson, then went on to learn to drive that car.

It was only this week that after looking for many months and dreaming for a little longer, I bought my new Camaro, a 2015 2SS, black, with a stick shift. Drives completely different than my old one, but I love them both. My son now drives the 2000, and when he goes to college, my daughter will take it over. I know I will be driving this car for many years, and making a whole new set of memories in it.

Here's shots of the new baby:
