Both have advantages, so IMO you just need to think about what you want from your DD. From my experience of Camaro vs the Mercedes e550 / the BMW 740 / Cadillac CTS

If you went Luxury:
- No / low mods
- On average more "comfortable" ride
- Most maintenance through dealer
- Cost more up front (haggle at time of purchase), but easy later on.
Just drop it off at the dealer when needed and pick up later
- Dealership is usually less of a hassle (take with a grain of salt), drop car off, always a loaner, etc
- Possible better MPG
- Can get full 4-door with a backseat that is comfortable for adults

New Camaro:
- More opportunity for mods / custom
- Better sound (exhaust)!
- Avg cheaper sticker price
- On average a more sport / aggressive look or appeal
- Usually dealer harder to get a loaner from
- Usually less room (back seat / trunk)
- Avg cheaper maintenance, easier to do on your own

and as a typical rule of thumb:
- the more stock your vehicle, USUALLY the easier it is to maintain
