For the biting from a puppy you need to Yelp like a dog would. They are playing and you are playing. Swatting and "no's" do no good at this time in my experience as it is playtime.

Unsure of the reason but dogs are hard wired for a "Yelp" to stop biting during play.

I just have a couple Boston Terriers but they are very playful dogs. As puppies everytime they bite during play I Yelp. Actually reach a point where the dog will look you in the eye while mouthing your hand testing how hard it's ok to bite. That is the magic moment where the dog learns what is acceptable bite pressure for play.
