The rake is definitely still there on that Tacoma, just compare the spacing between the fenders and tires. The truck's design just hides it.
In the process of "American-izing" Colorado, one of the modifications was a higher bed height. One of the common complaints from North America about the oveseas model was the top of the bed didn't really line up with anything from the cab forward so it literally looked like an afterthought tacked on.
Couple that with the upwards curve of the belt line, and the ever-lower front ends on trucks for aero purposes, and the rake looks much more exaggerated than it really is.

The rake is there. You just don't notice it as much.
