I had a lovely and paid for 2004 Lexus ES330. Then, as I was driving past the local Chevy dealership, I saw the Camaro. When I slowed down to take a better view, my 15 year-old daughter said, "pull in and have a look, Dad."
Having owned a Corvette at one time (1994 C4), I was a little sour on GM products. However, I am powerless to resist a request from my lovely daughter. We pulled in. It's December 21, 2015 at 3pm. Several salesman fall all over themselves trying to get to me first. Holly (my daughter), re-locks the doors on the Lexus. She asks if my gun is still in the glove box.
After a few tense moments, the crowd dissipates. A lone salesman is victorious and fist-pumps the air. I briefly consider giving the salesman a Xanax, but he appeared to recover quickly. We open the doors.
"HihowareyouwelcometoRosnerChevrolethowcanIhelpyou ?" he said.
"Come again?" I ask.
"Is he on drugs?" Holly whispered.
Once we managed to get our communication issues sorted out, we establish:
- Kevin (the salesman) isn't on drugs
- Kevin politely, but firmly, declined my offer of a Xanax
- Kevin should see his doctor to get a prescription for Xanax before he blows a brain stem artery from being so wound up
- I (Edward) know how to drive a stick shift
- I do not want to test drive the Shelby GT500 convertible parked next to the Camaro
2010 2SS. 40k miles. 1 owner. Black interior & exterior. After a ten minute test drive, I signed the paperwork and took it home. The car didn't have a single scratch ANYWHERE, had brand new tires, and was as solid & squeak free as my wife's Lexus LS460. I was, and am, very impressed with it.
Kevin called me 6 times the next day to be sure I liked the car and as a reminder to bring the spare key for the Lexus back to the dealer. When I returned the next day, I gave him the key and a Xanax. Nice guy...but he was like a guitar string that had been tuned seven octaves past its normal position.
The last picture is Holly with the car she picked out. It belongs to the owner of the dealership. 1959 Caddy convertible. 10k miles. All original down to the paint. It was
perfect. Sadly, I didn't have a spare $130,000.
