The new SS is going to be amazing, but Ford has been known in the last few years to let their competitors make the first move. I suspect they'll have a new powerplant in the GT in the next couple of years. Great time to be a car person.

Actually I'd imagine the next GT500 will be a TT V8. Possibly a 5.2L or even 5.4L but in a traditional cross plane layout. The gen2 3.5EB will probably move into a "Mach1" and be slotted in just above the GT. . . initially. I'd bet a tune to the sound of 500/485 would fit the bill.
If that product sells well I wouldn't put it past Ford to offer the 7th gen GT with a 3.xEB and move the V8's to only the top tier offerings.
