I think there ought to be a law that every American should see the Grand Canyon. Went there a few years ago on vacation and it was incredible. Standing on the rim looking into millions of years right there before your eyes is almost like a deeply religious experience, literally breath-taking for me. Still kicking myself that back when we lived in Phoenix for 5 years never made it up there.
Also since you're in the area Meteor Crater is very cool, and the Petrified Forest National Park as well.

I went there a few years ago and I was completely unimpressed. Same thing with Yellowstone when I went there.
