The reason the big12 isnt as beaten up is because of the way our conditioning is. I went to Highschool with Jevan Sneed aka ole miss QB former UT backup QB. He told me practices are nothing like they were at UT.
When players leave Texas and Oklahoma they are ready inshape wise for the next level. Texas has a strength and conditioning coach named Jeff madden aka Big Dog. It has been said our players are ready for the NFL meaning they step right in at training camp time not gasping for air but fully conditioned.
WE have 7 practices Facilities for our Football team. 7 Fields that help us prepare for games that have Rain , wind , Cold and etc. PLus we practice in the Hottest heat and humidity around. In the Big12 we play some games down south here in Texas ( heat ) and some games up North in the Nebraska/colorado Snow/cold .
The SEC is good and has its good teams however I think there are a few teams like the Big 12 has which are strong and a Few like the big 12 who are not as strong. When the 4th QTR Teams like TExas and OU normally wear people down because they are still going strong....thats why the RedRiver Rivialry Game between UT and OU is always a fast pace down to the last minute. Each of us prepare year around for that Game then we get ready for both of our instate rivals who are always out for blood the last game of the season.
The SEC is Good No doubt however I think the Big12 is better prepared as in conditioning.
As we are taught growing up playing Texas highschool Football. " Football games are won in the 4thqtr let your conditioning and ability to play in any enviroment take over. "
Oh yeah most of the Big12 teams are from Texas kind of like over half of OU's players
