First pictures of the Trans Am concept

When I used to be a T/A fanatic, I was on Trans Am Country. For any diehard Trans Am lovers on here that don't know about that forum, I'd definitely recommend joining up since it's a small but very well-knit community. All the guys there were pretty damn stand-up to me but I kinda left without saying a word since I sold the T/A they knew I worked so hard to get.

But one thing I did know is that they'd undoubtedly have pictures of this new concept T/A unveiling since they thoroughly cover the Trans Am Nationals every year and low and behold, they did.

I must say, I'm not all that impressed. For hacking up a Camaro to such a degree, I thought they'd make it a little more distinct. The spoiler is probably the area I have the most issue with. That one they put on is essentially GM's Dovetail except with slightly different ends. That awesome spoiler from the 2nd-gen Trans Ams is what attracted me to them in the first place. That oblique view from the rear, UGH - to die for.

Anyway, if you ask me there is no way to turn a 5th-gen Camaro into a Trans Am unless more work than that is done. I'm talking about resculpting the roofline and everything. Right now it looks like a Camaro with some famous T/A accessories added - it needs that subtle fastback and swoopiness the 2nd-gen T/As had to garner my attention.

Anyway, my final verdict is: nice try, but it's still a Camaro.

What do you all think? There's undoubtedly going to be more pictures of it soon and maybe an Autoblog/Jalopnik update.
