Being on call when there are storms happening can be crazy .we were having severe thunderstorms which led to a couple of tornados . I had to travel 2-1/2 hrs north of where we live to a retirement home , they had no elevators. What a crazy drive it was started out ok , then I am driving into a light show in the sky .it got worse , the wind picked up then hail and torrential rain .I could not pull over as I could not see anything at times . After waking up an electrical supplier for fuses I headed to our cottage an 1/2 hr away as the power had been out since 4 pm. we got the generator out as hydro said power would be out till later Monday . So at 330 am I got to use the generator for the first time in 10 yrs since owning it for the sole purpose it was bought for . I grabbed a couple of hrs of sleep then headed back this morning home . we got lucky some branches came down , a dead tree on the lot beside us came down to the property line . one confirmed F2 tornado damaged 5 police cruiser at a stn . as of this post hydro says power won't be restored to our cottage area till 6pm tonight . Glad we keep extra gas for these situations .I don't know if I will be busy when the other effected areas get their power back on or not time will tell . Not sure what is worse driving in a blizzard or hail storm and wind ? guess that the view out the windshield can be the same .
