Another thing is that we are looking at pictures on the Internet which helps to exaggerate the perception of them being similar. It's the 50 ft rule. I bet if you swap emblems and photo shop swapped grills that even you guys wouldn't pick it up at first glance. Anymore other than special cars that are outside of the normal box like the Camaro, mustang and challenger, I have to look for an emblem first on a car I haven't seen before to know what it is. This is because of how similar most cars are now a days. That's one reason I like what they do with the Cadillac. You don't mistake any of them for anything other than a Cadillac.
