Your list is about the same list as any Chevy/Pontiac comparison in the old days.
If there were no logos, and I was told one was the new Cruze, and one was bringing the Pontiac name back.... it would take close inspection to see that these come from different design houses.
I get it... people expect a car to look like a car (based on current trends). I care less that the car has a similar appearance to the Kia, and more about the fact that American cars lag behind other brands.
I drive a Sonata. 8 years, 150k miles. ZERO unplanned maintenance. A couple of years later, Chevy came out with a nice (and comparable) sedan. For more money, with fewer features, and less of a warranty.
At least my Sonata was made in America (unlike our Camaros).
I'm looking to replace my Hyundai in the next couple of years. I want good gas mileage, made on America, preferably by a company that is also HQ'ed in the US. This Cruze will be on my list to check out, but it has some serious competition.
