I'm going to assume the 14 you drove had the high rear end (it was like 2.73, or 3.05 or something like that?), while the 15 model may have had the optional 3.31s or 3.55s.

The 2011 - 2014 V6 Mustang with the optional PP with the lower gearing was definitely quicker in a straight line....for sure. Not saying the 2015 doesn't have nice response, or that it doesn't feel better to drive, but I can't imagine it being faster being heavier, with slightly less peak power, and a gearing option equal to, or higher than a 14 V6 with PP.
