The Statute of Limitations has passed on this...
But, I think I may have picked up some of "those guys" once when I was in the region....
We were vectored out on a bearing and range and told to stay in radio contact with a ship in the area... We loitered there for about 30 mins then they sent us in overland on a different Bearing. The only instruction we were given was to stay on that bearing and swith to freq..... blah blah...
So we're flying the bearing and out of no where we get a "Navy helo Side number ### Land as soon as possible...." So we zip around into the wind and land. I get out of the door with my NVGs trying to spot someone approaching us..... I'll be damned if that SOB doesn't tap me on the shoulder and asks me for a bottle of water.... They must have came up from the other side of the helo but none of us saw them... Hell he could have gotten in the bird, sat down and ate a sandwich and I wouldn't have know it.....
Anyway, they weren't in any uniform so I can't verify who they were... But I'm pretty sure they weren't from our SEAL team..... We flew back to the carrier and I never saw em again... I didn't even escort them into the ship... We landed shut the bird down and they were gone again.....
Our intel officer didn't even know what it was all about....
