That might be easy for you to dismiss, but for many people, they have strong feelings about the American flag, for whatever reason.

Telling people not to make a big deal about it is like telling someone not to get upset if someone vandalized their car. Why make a big deal about that? It's just an object. An object that has far less meaning than the flag.
