What is NOT even remotely acceptable is deliberately avoiding proof of innocence. In my book, that is what takes that officer from good guy to bad guy. He crossed that line.
Exactly. And I some people don't appreciate the magnitude of what that cop tried to do.

Just suppose that was me who was wrongly arrested. If left with my word verses the police officer, here's what would have happened to me.

- I would lose my license.

- I would face very hefty fines, possible jail time, and my insurance would be astronomical once I get my license back.

- Being active duty military I would be disgraced in the eyes of my unit. I would also lose a full month's pay, get 45 days extra duty (work until midnight 7 days per week), I would lose lose my rank and I would get kicked out of the military.

- I would lose my car (I drive an SRT Challenger).

- Being the sole breadwinner who supports a family of three, I would lose my home and my family would get torn apart.

But on the positive side at least that cop wouldn't have to admit to making a mistake. So at least there's that.
