New from NY

Hi camaro5.

From 16 until 23 I enjoyed a '99 Saturn SL1 manual transmission with absolutely no comfort features: http://i.imgur.com/kWWBCYF.jpg

Complete with non matching door courtesy of my friend backing into it and shattering the plastic door panel. $20 from a pick-n-pull and a few hours later and we had a new door installed Learned a lot from owning that car and doing all my own maintenance over the years with the help from my father. After almost 8 years with it I finally decided it was time to part with it and bought a car I wanted. Loved that car but I drove it into the ground being young and pretending I was in a race car. Parts were failing all over the place as you would expect of a '99 with over 250k miles. I give Saturn a lot of credit, that was was pretty much bulletproof, at least the engine was.

I bought my '14 1LT in August of last year. Sadly I only had a few months to enjoy it before Winter kicked in, because NY.

Here is a pic of it in my driveway about 40 minutes after I picked it up: http://i.imgur.com/Xsl5paq.jpg

No the party wasn't for me buying a car ha, it was my neighors kids first birthday

Kept it very clean. Very quickly I developed an obsession with auto detailing which resulted in me spending a small fortune on products and washing it 2x a week on average: http://i.imgur.com/Znwd1ic.jpg

Just before winter officially kicked in I washed it once more to see that shine: http://i.imgur.com/VlJVR3E.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Sedl5Oy.jpg

Hello winter! Unfortunately this is my only car and DD so it had to bear with me.: http://i.imgur.com/Kzv4WXr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kDGY2Tn.jpg

I learned to love the stability and traction control and they REALLY impressed me over the whole winter! Driving a car from 16 years old that featured no 'nanny' features (not even power steering, definitely no ABS or TSC) helped a ton with managing this car in the snow and ice. I never felt uncomfortable even with the hard winter this year. Weekly underbody sprays and washes hopefully helped curb the salt a bit.

Now its spring time and my obsession has picked up once again. Recently spent quite a bit of time watching videos online and reading in order to use a polisher and get all the swirls and light damage from the previous owner off my paint. Finally bought all my supplies: http://i.imgur.com/OjUvzSC.jpg
Not pictured is the other hundred plus of regular care products I have acquired during my time with the car.

Of course cosmetic maintenance isn't all I'm doing but it is what I'm having fun with most of the time. Had to buy new ramps for my first oil change as my previous ramps would not fit under the front bumper. That was fun in the middle of winter

Anyway I guess I'll end it here. Joined the forum a while back but finally getting around to posting because I'll soon be needing input on various things and I wanted to at least introduce myself.
