Fair enough, as I said I don't know anyone involved and I understand that the media will seek out these types for "their" story of what happened to them. I also know human nature and the story will be enhanced just like a fisherman talking about the fish that got away. HOWEVER to call this former officer an otherwise trustworthy guy is just ridiculous. What we know from this incident is that his official statement didn't match the footage on the video,so much so that his first lawyer quit right after seeing it. And add to that the possibility of tampering with evidence(the moving of the taser ),if that item that was tossed near the dead man turns out to be the taser. To me those couple of things that I know about the former officer make him NOT trustworthy IMO.
A reduction to manslaughter also wouldn't surprise me, police like to pile on as many charges as possible and at higher levels than actual events to help with the plea bargain aspect.
I think the arrest was what was needed in this case and let the jury decide the outcome. If for no other reason than to hold people accountable for their actions, no matter what type of clothing or uniform they wear.
