Think of this...if any one of us happened to get jumped my a homeless guy who wanted to rob us...with or without a weapon, and we pulled out our concealed weapon that we were licensed for...and the homeless guy ran off because he was scared...we would all go to jail for murder if we shot him in the back 1, 2, or 10 times.
On another note...when I had my 2007 Z06...I was being tailgated at about 9:30 at night. I took off a bit...but nothing crazy. I get to a stop sign, take a right and slowly pull away. The vehicle that was tailgating me also took a right at the stop sign so I decided to nail it...but only up to 84 mph. When I slow to take my turn into my neighborhood, the car that was tailgating me came up on me incredibly fast and his headlights seemed like they were in my rear hatch area. When he did that I decided not to turn so I wouldn't lead him to my house so I continued straight. I got another 50 yards or so and was about to show him how fast that Z was when he turned on every blue light that was on his Tahoe...AND the one behnd him. When I pulled over and got out...the cop told me it had been a long time since he had been 160 mph. I knew it wasn't going to be good as soon as he said that but I told him there was no way I was doing 160 mph...but never told him I knew I got up to 84. When I told him I wasn't traveling that fasthe said, "Well I had to do 160 to catch you!" I knew at this point there was no reason to try and have a battle of wits with someone who was so unprepared, but I insisted that I wasn't doing 160. With that being the only thing I ever said to him, he grabbed me, spun me around, and began to put handcuffs on me. I am pretty sure I laughed aloud just a bit and was almost HOPING this was about to happen. Both of us looked back at the other officer who was shaking his head "NO" to the officer that was putting the cuffs on me. He instead starting writing a ticket for 60 mph in a 55 mph zone. After a few calls THAT night...the ticket was thrown out.
It just amazes me how the slight bit of power can go to someone's head. I see it all the time in the military...someone gets enough rank where they think they are untouchable and they do whatever the heck they want to do...AND ARE SURPRISED WHEN THEY GET IN TROUBLE! Come on man! There are undoubtedly way more good police officers and Soldiers out there than there are bad, unfortunately, the bad ones are those that are more likely to make the news.
