I saw an Impala SS on the road yesterday [not my picture below]:

From what I could find, this model (5.3L V8) did 0-60 in about 5.6 seconds, which is decent, but hard to understand with only a 303hp engine. Torque (over 300) and gearing must have been in its favor.

Slapping the SS badge on a car don't make it sporty IMO. I wasn't impressed. It seems to me that GM splitting the SS off into its own model is a good thing. The 2014-2015 SS is leaps and bounds better than this.
