In a slide you will spend most of your time on your side or your back, areas where those GI pants won't protect you.
Imo, while leather does provide you the best abrasion resistance, leather jackets don't breath and get really hot fast especially during late spring to early fall. A quality textile jacket will still provide you ample protection during street applications and will keep you a lot cooler during the hot months. |
About the gloves , that's the first time I've ever heard that (Carbon Fiber) and I've been riding for 30 odd years . Yes I do know Carbon Fiber generally shatters on impact. I have a couple pair of gloves with Carbon Fiber Knuckles . Granted I've never crash tested them and don't really plan on it . Most people when they crash reach out with there hands . Your fingers and palms generally hit first because human instinked is to break your fall. You want to find a pair of gloves that have a built in slider at the wrist example would be Gloves made by Knox .Here is a good video
