Gearing shouldn't make up that big of a trap speed difference and if its aero that's a ton of drag. Personally I think the car only makes about 550 HP after the ECU starts pulling timing for what ever reason. I would be surprised if the aero is that much worse than a C6 Z06 and the sad thing is from what I have seen the M7 C7 Z06 is just marginally, if that, faster in a straight line vs the C6 Z06.
