the proof is in the pudding. Japanese cars have exploded in sales over the last 20 yrs and have never offered 100k warranties, still dont. toyota, for example, sells 20X as many 6ok warranty camry's as GM does 100k warranty Malibu's. maybe 30X. a 100k warranty says to a lot of people that the manufacture expects you to have problems. it's why Hyundai, Chrysler, and GM had to start offering them. people didn't trust the vehicles and would not buy one without it. If GM is dropping it, they obviously feel as though they've turned that corner and people no longer fear long term problems with their vehicles. If it hurts sales, it's because people still think they're junk and inferior to Asian cars.
