Much like the guys above mentions, a serious issue to consider is how 'multi-faceted' you want your car to be in terms of comfort and capability. If you want to run tens in a car that is a genuine corner carver running on street tires and pump gas, and which also makes for a livable daily driver, your quest is going to be a lot more interesting, and expensive, than building even a simple, livable driver with a more 'drag strip centric' suspension setup that can run 10's on full slicks and racing gas.
