Somebody please explain this....

Had a F-150 Eco-boost in the shop this morning and noticed this little baffle on the plastic piping going from the air box to the turbo. Can anyone explain what this does and why it's shaped the way it's shaped?

I figured maybe a Chevy guy was working for ford in the design department...
