If he has the 2.0T I would recommend getting rid of it before the warranty runs out. They have a very well known problem with heavy carbon build up on the valves and the fuel pump is a mechanical nightmare. Essentially its a cam and lobe set up and it wares out very fast and audi does not warranty it at all. To replace it it's over $1500 for the part alone! My warranty was up at 70,000 km's and that's when I traded it in. One of the shortest warranty's I have ever seen as well. I liked the car but the audi mentality and the way they treated me was a major reason why I wanted something different.
When I traded the Audi in for the Camaro I didn't tell my wife I was doing it because it happened so fast. She was pissed at me because she said she would have bought from me. She loved that car. But because of the issues I knew was coming I wouldn't even sell it to my wife let alone someone I knew. That should say something.
