As an OEM commercial HVAC sales rep for 10 years (~30 Brands) I can tell you that the factory replacement condenser fan motor is always a worthy expense. Generic replacements typically do not last as long. Some OEM manufacturers are worse than others about eating generic condenser fan motors. Other parts are less critical - blower motors for example. The heavy stresses put on condenser motors in service require them to be more substantial if you want them to live at all.
