Nw Harris County (Houston burbs), county assessed my house at 150k (which is way more than I can sell it for in the current market), 2000sf, built in 1984, nothing special, neighborhood is as safe as any other: My property taxes (after they add up about 50 things at .025% of assessed value), I pay about $3000 a year in property taxes.... Homeowners insurance is another $3600 a year, so my taxes and insurance (standard costs of living here, and they go up about 10% each year) are MORE than the principle and interest on my mortgage! Im not gonna move, so I pay.
