hell, my saturn (in my ownership) is less than 2 yrs and 70k+ miles and just yesterday I forgot whether or not I replaced the serpentine belt last year....
after I bought a new one. (turns out, I did replace it already, so now I'm heading to the store to return the new one)
and you'll most likely say "yeah, but a belt tensioner is a minor part compared to a whole windshield."

A serpentine belt is a wear item and not really memorable. It would be like forgetting you had the flu last year.
Buying a hail damaged car is major. It would be like having knee trouble and forgetting you had a replacement five years ago.
