XD45 here. I use a plastic holster that clips right into the door pocket. I've been pulled over a couple times with it there. Just keep your hands on the wheel and let them know it's there. Both times the officers asked if they could see it, as well as my permit. Both officers were grateful. One of them told me how much he appreciated it 3 or 4 times (as well as giving me some praise for the camaro
). I know if I was them, I wouldn't want that to be a surprise. I got off with a warning both times as well.
