The Porsche 918 and McLaren P1 are both amazing cars. I just wish both companies used an ICE only and not get electric motors involved. As stated above, electric motors add unnecessary weight and complexity. Koenigsegg recognizes this and proves the electric motor wrong when you consider the performance of the Agera R and One:1.
Porsche, McLaren, BMW, etc. are just following electric motor hybrid 'trends' in the auto industry now. Hybrid technology should remain in economy cars and nothing more. When serious performance is involved, the ICE is the only way to go.
Here's a video of the 918 vs. Agera R......Hybrid vs. ICE...No contest:

No doubt Koenigsegg builds some fantastic cars, but you can't buy one. 918s started shipping to the US in 2014. Koenigsegg has only committed to sending one car to the US in 2015 (a One:1, coincidentally) and it is for showroom display only. Getting that kind of performance out of an internal combustion engine comes with a high price and low availability (not that I could afford either). I'm sure McLaren and Porsche could build 1,400 HP hybrids, but there would be very few of those as well, not to mention a very high price tag.
