A couple of points:

1 - if this was a Z07 it had the track aero that adds big down force. Which means more drag.

2 - at these speeds, aero means far, far, far more than 150 pounds, give or take.

3 - from a very reliable source, GM puts a "timer" of about 3,000 miles on cars to enable a safer break in. A softer Powertrain calibration if you will. How many people on this site report their cars magically woke up after 3,000 miles? My SS Sedan sure seemed to. And I trust this source without question.

4 - just cuz they say it was two guys just having fun doesn't mean it was.

These are two supercars, one of which is still American (thank the US government for that at least). Both at least built by Americans. And both expected to perform pretty close to each other.

But I also remember the first Z51 vs. Viper comparisons and they picked the Corvette for overall chassis rather than just brute force. So my guess is on a track, all things being equal, there will be a noticeable difference between these two still awesome cars.
