As others pointed out, they were there with the car. Additionally, and I know this is hard to understand for some of the magazine and Playstation racers (not you in particular), there are other tracks in the world besides the Nurburgring. In fact, the Nordschleife is not a great example of what most track experiences will be like. It is closer to racing on mountain roads than it is to racing on most other tracks. The reason the Nurburgring is touted as such a benchmark is because it has such varying track features and conditions, something you won't find at almost any other track.
