The first car to use it was the Cadillac STS in 2002. It was used by a lot of Caddy products until the company that developed it, Delphi, was sold off by GM in 2008 due to the bankruptcy stuff, and since then has been owned and further developed by BWI. Because of that it is now sold to multiple car companies.
