What I am curious about is how well the engine will hold up. It is a clean sheet design and that presents issues that make me nervous about buying one. In competition form, the car will likely be choked down with restrictor plates and that could hurt it even more. Boss cars were blowing up left and right a few years back when they were given a very large restrictor, and many Ford teams parked in protest.

The GM response: It will be EPIC!

The level of performance a "regular Joe" can buy now from an American automaker is astounding! Way to go 'Murica!
It's going to be interesting to see what motor they put in the next gen 302R/350R for IMSA and WC. We always assume it will be the next best motor used (ie FPC 5.2), but longevity, parts availability, sufficient testing, etc come into play. And with the current Boss motor still running restricted in WC, there's less incentive to look for more HP when the BOP committee will likely just make you run a restrictor anyway. We haven't seen the torque curve, but that might swing it into favor of the FPC, I don't know. And if the FPC motor costs significantly more than the Boss 302 motor, spare motors, etc will make running a FPC 5.2 in competition less attractive.

FYI, we were one of the teams that did the parade lap and parked at Mid Ohio a couple of years ago.
