Kimber is top shelf parts and built to higher tolerance than the RI's, so much so, that the Kimber doesn't like to run dirty, but is more accurate. The RI is a dirty girl, but dependable and accurate enough for edc.
The Kimber has needed nothing in three years, the RI needed safety work, but otherwise a fine shooter.

Oh ya I am familiar with kimber. I have several full size 1911's. The one I looked at today was $800. Not a bad price for a kimber. If I had the coin I would look at a wilson combat or les Baer or another top 1911.
For some reason I didn't even think about a smaller 1911 for edc until I ran across the Kimber solo.
