My only "issue" with the article is it is written by a raw lifter who you can tell is "anti gear" and he makes broad, general statements, which are actually NOT correct. IE if someone benches 1000 most likely they don't bench 700 without a shirt. Someone that is "new" to the sport would infer from this that you, and everyone gets 300lbs out of a bench shirt which is bullshit.
If it were true I'd bench 715 as a 198lb, lifetime drug free, master lifter

I agree with you, although I will probably never trained geared, I'm not team raw. Many people are like that though and bash equipped pl'ers...I just have a love for the sport either way
