As most of you many know on 10-23-2014 here in Southern California we had the opportunity to view a partial solar eclipse between 2:00pm and 4:40pm
My daughter Emma and I set up our telescope and tracked the sun during this time and recorded some nice images of the event, I have assembled them into a time-lapse video and uploaded it to you tube, also below are some still shots used to make that video
Our telescope is a Celestron CPC-800 Deluxe EdgeHD (if you care to google it), attached to it is a White light solar filter and a 2 inch micro focuser with an F6.3 focal reducer/corrector so that we can attach our Canon DSLR camera for Astro-imaging..
We bought this scope last March, while we have used it for viewing quite a bit, this is the first attempt at using it for imaging.
Hope everyone enjoys!
FYI - In the video the images have been rotated and flipped to show the actual orientation of the sun, the images have not.. for those not aware an SCT telescope views the object upside down and in reverse due to the dual mirror setup, all images have to be rotated and flipped to be in correct orientation.
