Recalling what I saw in my R8C Museum Delivery tour, it should be near the top of the block at the rear. Sadly, I can't recall which side for sure, but I think the passenger side. They actually etch the number shortly before the engine mates to the rest of the drive line, so it may be difficult to find once all the other parts are attached and it's mated to the body.
