Yup, it will work. Electronics don't care about the source as long as it fits within their designed parameters (current and voltage)

As for capactors, one way to think about them is as a voltage storage device. A battery is a power storage device, and an inductor is a current storage device (they aren't too common). Thats not quite how they work but its the easiest way to think about them.
