Had a similar thing happen to my parents a few years back, only it was my aunt staying with us. Shes had a rough life in and out of jail, no ones fault but her own. When she got out last time my mom agreed to help her for a little while she got a job and such. She ended up working for awhile, made friends who didn't turn out to be the greatest, got back into her old ways and eventually started stealing from us. Took money while everyone was sleeping and disappeared. Eventually she wound up back in jail somewhere in Florida. Really can't trust a junkie, even if they claim to be clean.
It really is a sad world we live in. People have no respect for others or their property, as long as they can get one step ahead or get their fix, everything is fair game. It's getting so bad where I live that I can't even work on my own car in my garage behind my house because people have been getting mugged back there recently. A few nights ago found the fuel door of one of our cars open and the cap unscrewed, didn't find anything around the cap and no gas was missing but it still irritates me that someone would have the nerve to even f' with someone's $hit like that. I'm almost paranoid to buy a Camaro when you can't even leave it in a parking lot for 5 minutes without someone touching it or whatever.
seriously hope you get all of your belongings back, if anything the sentimental stuff...
